Read This Notice In Its Entirety: Please be advised that the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Waiting List will open on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 9:00am and close on Friday February 23, 2018 at 5:00pm for any persons interested in applying. The HCV Program is a tenant based rental assistance program that is administered by the Housing Authority of Winston-Salem within Forsyth County. Applications will only be available online. No paper applications will be available or accepted.
Before you begin the application process, please have available your social security card, a vaild email address and a pen and paper. HAVE PAPER AND PEN READY TO WRITE DOWN YOUR CONFIRMATION INFORMATION OR PRINTER TO PRINT YOUR CONFIRMATION INFORMATION. This online application will be available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese and Russian languages. The application can be accessed via a link on this webpage (www.haws.org, or https://hawsnc.securecafe.com/onlineleasing/haws-live/guestlogin.aspx) during the acceptance timeframe only. For applicants without personal computer access, computers may be utilized at the Forsyth County Public Library, City with Dwellings, Prosperity Center, ESR, Bethesda Center, and Winston-Salem Recreation Centers. You may also use any smart phone or tablet with internet access to complete the application. Submit only one application.
Any resident of public housing desiring to receive HCV assistance must complete an application via the website. A letter has been mailed with your individual resident code needed during the registration process – Please Do Not Misplace This Letter. For those persons who are elderly and/or disabled and require assistance with completing the application, please call 336-917-6330 and leave one voicemail message clearly stating your full name and telephone number. Your elderly and/or disabled status will be verified.
