EMPLOYMENT DIVISION
The Employment Program implements a comprehensive approach to assisting associates in identifying, securing and retaining gainful employment. The program also provides assistance to perspective employers to fill job vacancies.
STRATEGIES
Urban League affiliates employ these three-pronged strategies, plus others tailored to meet local needs, in order to implement the mission of our movement:
- Ensuring that our children are well-educated and equipped for economic self-reliance in the 21st century
- Help adults attain economic self-sufficiency through good jobs, possible home ownership, entrepreneurship and wealth accumulation
- Ensuring our civil rights by eradicating all barriers to equal participation in the economic and social mainstream of America.
Our Approach To Direct Services
The Winston-Salem Urban League provides a variety of services using a complete
approach that impacts the lives of all individuals seeking
our assistance. Intervention is made at all points in the
social and economic structure where the interests of African-Americans,
the poor and other minorities are at stake. Programs are designed
to strengthen the growth and development of the community,
inclusive of housing, economic development, community development,
urban affairs, social welfare and race relations.
