Committed to Building Bridges and Developing Respect
Diversity is defined as "all the ways in which we are different
and similar along an infinite number of lines." Forsyth County
is pleased to offer three sessions of professional non-judgmental
diversity training to county employees in partnership with the
Winston-Salem Urban League. Employees are invited to attend
a two-day training session and the final half-day session to
receive an individual action plan for self-development. Other
community residents may enroll in the training if space is available.
Addressing the Challenge:
Forsyth County employees, community members and local organizations must understand, interact with, and serve individuals who are increasingly foreign-born and individuals who retain a strong ethnic identity. Bridging the Gaps Training goes beyond increasing awareness and beyond just learning about assumptions related to human differences to examining the behaviors that influence how people interact.
Improving Race Relations and Embracing Diversity:
Bridging the Gaps in Race Relations Training utilizes an individual leadership development model to improve race relations and embrace diversity by learning how to:
- Set new trends in diversity outreach models
- Identify simple and useful tools for working with a diverse community
- Identify barriers that hinder the community from establishing diverse partnerships.
- Identify effective methods of inclusion in the community.
- Use communication tools for effective interaction in a diverse community.
